Abandonment

Not to long ago I had a women in our music ministry come to me and another staffer with a huge burden.  She had the feeling that God had left her, that God didn’t hear her, and that she was all alone.  What was so difficult about this meeting was the fact that she is a good solid leader.  You knew that by the tone of her voice that this was a pretty serious matter.  In our conversation she used the phrase, “I feel so abandoned right now”. Wow, that was such strong wording from someone who knows God and His faithfulness.  It is so easy to get into the mentality that God is always there, He always does His thing, He is God, He will take care of us.  Easy until something extremely intense comes along.  Something with family or finances or just crazy blindsiding type things.  In that moment God gave me a word.  He said, “Abandonment is right where I want you.”  There are so many times in our lives where we don’t need God because it is not that big of deal.  God desires for us to abandon ourselves to Him.  He desires for us to fully trust in Him because He is the Author and Creator of life.  It is healthy to abandon ourselves, our thoughts, our desires, our families, our situations, our finances to Him.  The best place in life to be is reliant on Him.  Are you abandoned or do you feel abandoned?  Thats the paradigm shift. Being abandoned to Christ and His power and His will, not feeling abandoned from Christ and His will.  God wants us to need Him.
